2003 was another superb growing season that ripened the grapes to perfection in the warm sunny days and cool fall nights of the Yakima Valley. Harvested by hand the grapes were then transported to Kalamar Winery. There they were fermented in small open top fermentation tanks for 7 days. Then the wine was basket pressed into French and American oak barrels and aged for 23 months.
A rich dense Merlot with ripe flavor and gentle texture. Firm tannins support lively black cherry and currant fruit along with the subtle shadings of black pepper and cedar. The fruit on the long complex finish that keeps pumping out the flavors.
